Nancy Benson - Farm Service Specialist

Nancy Benson has been working with farmers for many years. She was born and raised on a farm in South Central Indiana and she and her husband continue to be involved in a farming operation. She spent 10 years working for a private company in the grain industry. Prior to coming to Diversified Services, she was Manager of the grain division for a farmer cooperative in Indiana. While there, she was responsible for grain merchandising and started a program of working with farmers on futures and options strategies as well as crop insurance programs. Additionally, she has worked with farmers on farm accounting and tax programs for several years.

Nancy has been an innovative pioneer in developing risk management programs for farmers in South-Central and Southeast Indiana. She is a licensed Series III commodities broker and is a licensed property and casualty agent.

Jake Wiener - Ag Marketing Consultant

Jake Wiener has been working with farmers in Southeast Indiana and Southwestern Ohio for almost 30 years. He attended the University of Cincinnati and began his professional career with Indiana Grain in Cincinnati.

Jake has a wealth of experience in the grain industry including operations, accounting, logistics, and grain marketing. His was named origination manager for Country Mark Cooperative and later became general manager of the company's Cincinnati operations.

Jake accepted a position as origination manager with Consolidated Grain and Barge prior to accepting his position with Diversified Services, whom now has been in his current marketing consultant role for nearly 10 years. He is a Series III commodities broker and works closely with the crop insurance experts at Diversified Services to provide an integrated marketing approach for his clients.

Matt Morris - Ag Sales Associate

Matt Morris started his grain merchandising career at a Frankfort, IN soybean processing facility while attending Purdue University. Once he completed his Animal Agribusiness degree, he came to Cincinnati, OH to work in merchandising with CGB. For two years Matt managed CGB's Premium Grains Program for the Ohio Valley Region.

Matt has a wide array of experience in the grain industry, including, processing margins, product sales, logistics, origination, and management of Premium Grains.

Matt is currently serving Diversified Services as a Sales Associate and is a licensed Series III Commodities Broker. Matt has a passion for marketing and strives to improve our clients' businesses utilizing our multitude of risk management services. He looks forward to serving you!

Doug Emery - Farm Service Specialist

Doug has been working with farmers in various capacities for over 20 years. Immediately prior to coming to Diversified Services, he was Vice President responsible for the agricultural loan portfolio for a bank in Northern Indiana. Prior to that he was senior partner for a Midwest Farm management company and was a licensed real estate broker and appraiser. He has owned and operated his own farm so he knows how important it is to have a sound risk management plan in order to have a sound financial farm operation.

Doug is a licensed Series III commodities broker and is a licensed property and casualty agent dealing in crop insurance.

Doug graduated from Purdue University in 1978 with a BS in animal sciences. He and his wife, have 3 daughters and a son.

Brent York - Farm Service Specialist

Brent York joined Diversified Services at the end of 2002. He is a native of White County, IL and resides there in Carmi. He is a graduate of Murray State University with a degree in Agronomy.

Brent is a licensed crop insurance agent for Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky and he is also a Series III commodities broker.

Brad Sharp has worked with farmers for over 20 years. After completing his duty in the US Marine Corps, Brad began working as a commodities broker in the Midwest. Most recently he was an Agricultural Commodity Specialist for Merrill Lynch in Columbus, OH. From 1993 to 1996 he was the manager of Futures and Options for a farmers' cooperative association in Ohio. He left that position to become general manager for a multi-facility coop in Northern Ohio.

Zane Alford

Zane Alford is a graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in Agricultural/Economics. He began his career by climbing the ag-chem ladder with sales and management positions with Panola Farmers Service, Terra, and Helena Chemical Company. In that time, Zane was responsible for management of sales, inventory, personnel, as well as, scouting and prescribing control measures in field applications.

While working at Helena Chemical, Zane was offered the opportunity to develop and manage the Crop Insurance Division of Helena. He accepted and held that position until September 2006.

Zane began working with DS in September 2006. He serves as crop insurance agent in Mississippi, Alabama, and Arkansas and is also a Certified Crop Advisor.

Mark Marshall - Crop Insurance specialist

Mark was raised on a family grain farm operation in northern Iowa.  He graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Business and Finance.  Mark's professional experience   includes work as a grain merchandiser, tax and accounting, and banking.  His banking experience includes 16 years as an ag and commercial lender, management of a branch, and all IT functions for the bank.  He holds a crop insurance license and is responsible for marketing Diversified Service's risk management programs throughout Iowa and the region.  He has been very involved in community organizations holding several positions.

Mark lives in Stratford, IA with his 2 sons.

Brad Newsome -
Southeast Marketing Manager

Brad Newsome has been involved in farming since birth. He was raised on a tobacco farm in the Piedmont of North Carolina and grew tobacco with his wife until 1998. Brad started in crop insurance in 1995 as a per diem adjuster and accepted a full time position in 1998 as a market rep. Brad, his wife and three daughters have a breeder operation with Perdue Farms in King, North Carolina. Brad is a licensed property and casualty agent.

Jim McClelland
General Manager of Diversified Services

Jim McClelland is responsible for Diversified Services' grain marketing programs. His responsibilities include oversight of DS's brokerage operations as well as development of marketing strategies and execution. He is responsible for development and administrative functions of our various marketing programs.

Jim grew up on a family farm in West Central Illinois and is operates a purebred cattle operation today. He graduated from Millikin University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Jim has almost twenty years experience in the grain marketing field. He was manager and accountant for a privately owned country grain elevator in Illinois for over ten years. He has experience in the insurance field as an agent for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company and has been involved in farm accounting and tax services for many years. In 1995 he accepted a position with Consolidated Grain and Barge as grain merchandiser and Manager of the company's Curran, IL facility.

Since coming to Diversified Services, Jim has been instrumental in developing many of the programs offered by the company. His experience in grain marketing and accounting areas makes him uniquely qualified to lead this important area.

Leigh Lamb - Regional Marketing Manager

Leigh Lamb, a farm-raised native of Schuyler County, IL, has 20 service years of with CGB. He was a member of the task force that started Diversified Services and is a licensed crop insurance agent and licensed futures broker.

Over his tenure with CGB, he has experience as a manager of livestock operations, operations manager at CGB bulk terminal and elevator operations, and grain merchandiser.

Leigh holds an Animal Science degree from the Hawkeye Institute of Technology.

Rich Morrison - Farm Marketing Specialist

Rich Morrison was raised on a family grain farm near Piper City, Illinois. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Ag Economics. Since then, Rich spent 12 years in the grain business with varying responsibilities before coming on board with Diversified Services.

Rich began his career in the grain business with Consolidated Grain and Barge, and spent time at various facilities in Ohio and Indiana before coming back to Illinois. He managed the elevator at Curran before moving to Naples as the Merchandising Manager for the Naples Region. Later, he worked for A.E. Staley in Decatur, IL originating corn for their processing plants before accepting a position with Diversified Services.

Rich is a Series III commodities broker as well as a licensed crop insurance agent. He and his wife Judy have three daughters and a son, and reside near Jacksonville, Illinois. Rich looks forward to working with you to further your farm's risk management program.

Judy Morrison - Crop Insurance Specialist

Judy Morrison graduated from Illinois College in Jacksonville with a Business Degree and was hired by Consolidated Grain and Barge soon after. She started in the accounting department and was later trained as a Grain Merchandiser. She originated grain for the next 20 years from local producers and grain elevators, traded rail grain from Iowa and Missouri and barge grain to the Gulf.

When Diversified Services first began she served as a liaison between CGB grain customer and the many resources DS had to offer. In June of 2002 she officially joined the Diversified Services group and moved to the Jacksonville DS office.

For many years Judy worked with producers to help them market their grain but there was always that possibility that the market would move against them or that they wouldn't produce a crop. After learning the importance crop insurance could have on a producer's marketing plan she realized this was how they could protect those adversities. In 2004 she acquired her Crop Insurance license and is now devoting her time to learning and teaching as much as she can about this ever changing industry.

She resides in rural Jacksonville with her husband Rich, who is also a CI agent of Diversified Services, and their four very active teenagers.

Cheri norris - Crop Insurance Specialist

Cheri Norris joined the Diversified Services Team in 2004 after working in one of Consolidated Grain and Barge's main terminal elevators for several years. There she gained valuable experience with grain merchandising and contracts as well as producer and rail settlements. After joining DS she became licensed as a crop insurance agent plus took on the role of underwriter handling administrative paperwork for numerous agents in Illinois & parts of Indiana.

Today she continues in those duties plus works directly with customers combining the knowledge gained in the grain elevator with her experience as an underwriter to help area producers create effective risk management plans.

She has a degree in Business Management and has worked with a CPA firm. She is married and has three children and settled in Central Illinois in 1990 after growing up in a military family.

Matt Cessna - Crop Insurance Specialist

Matt grew up on a cash grain farm in Ohio. He began his professional career working for Consolidated Grain and Barge after graduating from The Ohio State University with a degree in Agricultural Economics. Matt has over 18 years experience in trading grain and a licensed insurance agent since 1998.

Matt's experience has been wide and varied with CGB. He has served as facility manager for several CGB locations. In addition, he has considerable trading experience that includes trading various CIF and domestic positions. He was a member of CGB's Farmer Marketing Team and was Regional Merchandising Manager for CGB's Northern Illinois region prior to Diversified Services.

Matt is a licensed Series III Broker and is also a licensed crop insurance agent. Let Matt's experience go to work for you.

Dan Hueber -
Marketing Specialist/Office Manager

Dan Hueber literally grew up in the grain business working in the family grain & feed operation. After college he spent several years in the cash grain business managing a country grain elevator. His true interest always lay in marketing work and in 1979 entered the commodity brokerage business specializing in producer hedging. In 1988 he and a partner opened an independent agricultural advisory and brokerage firm in Sycamore Illinois. Throughout his 25+ years in the business he has also been very active in producer market education. For a number of years he taught a marketing course at a local junior college as well as many educational speaking engagements.

Dan joined Diversified Service in March 2002 as a Farm Marketing Specialist and will be working one on one with our clients developing and implementing sound marketing plans. He is a licensed series III broker. Give Dan a call and let his experience and discipline go to work for you.

John Diedrich - Crop Insurance Specialist

John Diedrich has spent his entire life directly involved with production agriculture. He has owned and operated a family farming operation with his five younger brothers since graduating from the University of Illinois in 1974. John received a degree in Agricultural Communications and has put that knowledge to good use when servicing the individual needs of his Crop Insurance clients. He has been a leader in both the DeKalb County Corn Growers and the Illinois Corn Growers levels and served as President and Director of these respective organizations.

John joined Diversified Services in December of 2003. As a Farm Marketing Specialist his emphasis is on the Crop Insurance side of addressing his client's income protection needs. He is currently a representative for the Agency Division and will be involved with issues of importance in Washington DC. Please contact him with grass roots concerns and income protection questions as they apply on a political level.

The primary focus in the Rochelle office is making the link between owning income protection and taking action to sell the grain with a successful marketing plan. We emphasize throughout the growing season the importance of real time knowledge and delivering this timely knowledge through our in house grower meetings and marketing seminars. Jim Hart - Crop Insurance Specialist

Jim Hart grew up on a farm south east of Rochelle, IL and farmed with his Father until his death in 2002. He became involved with crop insurance in 1984 doing crop adjusting for Crop Hail Management. When this company was sold he became an adjustor for RCIS and NCCI. In 1987 he obtained his insurance license and began writing crop insurance through Crop Hail Management. In the fall of 1987 he formed the HJ Hart Agency specifically to sell crop insurance and educate farmers about the use of the every evolving number of crop insurance products. In January of 2006 he sold the crop insurance side of the HJ Hart Agency business to Diversified Service and came to work for us. He adds that since coming on board he has been delighted to be part of the DS family.

Jodie Hart spent most of her childhood on a farm southeast of Rochelle, IL  and tagged along with her dad, Jim Hart.  In 2001 she obtained her insurance license while working for H.J. Hart Insurance Agency in Rochelle.  Jodie then received her B.A. from Northern Illinois Univeristy in Hospitality Administration in 2006.  Jodie lives in Rochelle with her 7 year old son, James.  She is extremely happy to be a part of the DS family and returning to her farm roots.

Jeff Baumgart

Jeff Baumgart was raised on a grain farm in Southeastern Ill. He is a graduate from Murray State University, Murray, Ky. with a degree in Agribusiness/Economics. Prior to joining Diversified Services, Jeff has spent 9 years in the grain business at various locations.

Jeff began his career with Consolidated Grain and Barge as a merchandiser in Mt Vernon, IN. He then worked as Grain Elevator Manager and Assistant Grain Department Manager for Twin County FS in Benton IL. After four years of managing elevators for the Southern IL Co-op, Jeff accepted a position with Consolidated Grain and Barge's Mound City, Illinois regional office. While in Mound City, Jeff gained trading experience trading Barge Freight, Corn, and Milo as well as increasing CGB's origination efforts in Southern Illinois. Jeff was then promoted to CGB Southwest's Regional Manager where he was responsible for the management of CGB's four Arkansas River facilities in Oklahoma and Arkansas. While in Oklahoma, Jeff was responsible for origination, operations, terminaling, trading HRW and barge freight as well as the overall profitably of those facilities.

Laura Nolan, a native of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, attended Southeast Missouri State University before joining CGB in 1986. She was responsible for all grain accounting aspects at the CGB Cape Girardeau location until 1998 when her hard work and dedication earned her a position as grain merchandiser.

Also in 1998, Laura became a licensed Series III commodities broker as well as a licensed properties and casualties insurance agent, specializing in crop insurance.

Laura's experience in the grain business and knowledge of crop insurance serves her well as Risk Management Specialist for Diversified Services.

Jon King - Regional manager

Jon graduated from Western Illinois University with an honors degree in agriculture economics.  His past responsbilities included Senior Merchandiser for Continental Grain Company, Trading Manager for Cargill Investor Services and Merchandising Consultant for Advance Trading, Inc.  Jon's diverse merchandising experience include: management of unit train facilities, truck, rail, and barge position management at a terminal elevator; specialty crop marketing; and trading corn, milo, beand, HRW, SRW and spring wheat into both domestic and export marekts.

Jon also manged futures and options trading operations at the KCBT, was a senior manager/option specialist and worked as a domestic and international grain broker.

Jon then started Strategic Marketing and Risk Transfer, LLC with is a business similar to DS.  He joined DS in December of 2007.

Tim Cowan - investment manager

Tim grew up on a farm south of Higginsville, MO.  Tim attended SMSU in Springfield, Missouri for two years.  Due to his interest in computers, Tim transferred to ISU in Ames, Iowa where he received his degree in Computer Engineering in 1990.  Upon graduating from ISU, Tim took a position with Hallmark Cards, Inc. in the Information Technology department.  Tim entered his first stock trade at age 16.  Having developed an aptitude a passion for trading, he decided to enhance his knowledge and skills through education in options strategies.  His most recent development has brought him to Diversified Services in Higginsville as the commodities broker where he looks forward to servicing clients who want to participate in the commodities markets.

Kane Adams - customer service manager

Kane is originally from  Hillsboro, Kansas where he grew up in agriculture working on a local farm and at his father's grain elevator.  Kane received his B.S. from Kansas State University in 2005.  His previous responsibilities included being employed as a mortgage banker in Wilkes-Barre, PA and recently in Fayetteville, AR.

Kane joined Strategic Marketing and Risk Transfer, LLC in October 2007, and then Diversified Services in December of 2007.  Kane is a licensed Crop Insurance Agent in Missouri.  He is also the servicing agent for all agents and sub-agents in the Higginsville Region and provides sales and service support, leadership and training to help our agents create individualized marketing and crop insurance plans for our producer customers.

Raven Runft - Crop Insurance specialist

Raven joined Diversified Services in June 2008.  She is a graduate of Hutchison Community College with an Associate's in Arts Degree-Agribusiness, and Texas A&M University with  a B.S. in Agribusiness and a Certificate in International Trade and Agriculture.  During colelge, she competed on a competitive livestock judging team.  Raven grew up in rural east central Kansas, outside the small town of Rantoul.  Raven is a licensed Crop Insurance Agent for Missouri and Kansas.  Raven's farm background and extensive training allow her to help area farmers make the best crop insurance and marketing choices.

Jeff is a life long resident of Atchison County, Kansas.  Jeff grew up on a farm south of Atchison which is still in operation.  He has an M.B.A. and a B.S. in Business Management from Friends University of Wichita, KS.  Most recently, he held a Farm Marketer position with Cargill Inc. based in Atchison, Kansas.  In addition, Jeff has worked for Quaker Oats Company and Ag Processing Cooperative. Jeff's many years of experience helping producers market crops and manage risk allow him to assist farmers in making better crop insurance and marketing choices.  Jeff joined Diversified Services in June 2008 and is a licensed Crop Insurance Agent in Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska.

Brian was raised on a family farm in Edina, MO where he was active in livestock and row crop production.  Brian received a B.S. in Agricultual Economics from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Brian is also a Pioneer Sales Representative that servces growers in Carroll, Ray, Lafayette, Saline and Chariton counties.  He has operated his business in the Carrollton area for eight years and prides himself on providing his customers with the best products, service and information to help them grow their operations. 

Brian joined Diversified Services in March of 2008, and is a licensed Crop Insurance Agent in Missouri.

Alan Stephens is a life long resident of Caldwell County, born and raised near Cowgill, MO.  Alan is a graduate of the University of Missouri with a degree in Agricultural Mechanization.  Alan has worked in the Caldwell County and neighboring counties area for many years as a salesman for Ray County implement of Richmond, MO, Thompson Implement of Gallatin, MO and most recently as the Farm Bureau Insurance Agent for Caldwell County for the last 10 years.  Alan joined Diversified Services in August of 2008.

Alan has lived in Hughesville, MO on his family farm for his entire life.  Alan continues to run the farm with his two sons and is an avid no-tiller.  He also runs a cattle operation.  Alan is a licensed Crop Insurance Agent in Missouri.  He joined Strategic Marketing and Risk Transfer in the fall of 2007.  He then joined Diversified Services in December of 2007.  Alan uses his knowledge and experience in farming and crop insurance to help his customers make sound risk management decisions.

Licensed in Property and Casualty, Linda joined Diversified Services (DS) in the fall of 2006 to sell crop insurance.  Her territory covers Southwestern Wisconsin and Northeastern Iowa.  With a BS from the University of Madison in Agriculture and a MS in Ag Industries from the University of Platteville, Linda has worked with farmers in various capacities for over 20 years in agriculture sales.  Living in Prairie du Chien, on her family apple orchard, she knows first hand how important protecting your hard earned assests is to a producer.  She will work with you to develop the best insurance coverage plan.

Tom Horton - risk management specialist

Tom started Ag Insurance, Inc in 1992 by opening an office in Versailles, KY.  Raising burley tobacco all his life gave him the first hand knowledge that was useful to his insurance clients.  His business grew by devoting hours and miles conversing with farmers across Kentucky.  In 1999, Tom opened in office in Owensboro to handle the growth and to diversify his business.  In 2008, a partnership was established with Diversified Services.  With this arrangement, additional sales people joined them and the staff is now a processing branch office for DS in addition to servicing existing clients.

Chris joined Diversified Services in September of 2007.  He is a native of Clark County, IN.  Chris was raised on a Grain, Livestock, and forage farm near Charlestown, IN just 30 minutes northeast of Louisville, KY.  He is a graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Agri Business Management.  Chris's previous jobs include working for the FSA Farm Loan Programs for 4 years, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance as an agent for 2 years and an independent agent for 2 years.

Brent joined the Diversified Services Owensboro team in February 2009.  A native of Webster County, KY, Brent was raised on a grain and tobacco farm.  After attending Western Kentucky University and working for the State of Kentucky and other private business, it is exciting for Brent to be a part of the agriculture industry again.

minda pearson - Office manager

Minda was born and raised in northwestern Minnesota, 11 miles from North Dakota and 20 miles from Canda, in the valley of the Red River of the north.  Growing up in a small rural community and her father had an implement business, ingrained famring into her very early in life.  Uopn graduating from college, Minda accepted a position with USDA and spent 21 years serving the agricultural community.  Choosing a change in both climate and employer, Minda accepted a position with Ag insurance, Inc in Kentucky in 1999 to manage an office in Owensboro.  Since then, crop insruance has allowed her to continue to be involved with an industry essential to our country and very close to her heart.

Toni Morhet started with Diversified Services in January, 2007.  Toni was a part-time employee at the Franklin County FSA office since 1999.  She and her husband, Keith, have ownded an doperated a grain and livestock farm for 25 years.  Toni has also actively participated in Pioneer seed sales throughout much of the Franklin county area for 21 years.

Tom was raised in Cedar Falls, Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Agricultural Economics.  Since graduation from ISU, Tom has worded in the grain business in various capacities and has gained valuable and varied experience in his 28 years in the ag industry.

Tom began his career as a Grain Warehouse Examiner with the State of Iowa, worked as a grain merchandiser with local coops in northeast Iowa and spent over 14 years with Consolidated Grain and Barge (4 years with Pattison Bros/CGB) in accounting barge and rain logistics, grain merchandising and risk management.  While with CGB, Tom managed barge and rail logistics and worked in grain merchandising at CGB's Ohio River terminals in Mound City, IL.  Tom also had the opportunity to work in CGB's corporate office in Mandeville, LA as the Accounting Manager for the company's barge fleeting and barge trading enterprises eventually assuming the role of Accounting Manager for Zennoh Grain's grain export facility.  Tom moved back to Iowa in 1999 and worked as an ag lender for the last 5 years.

Tom is a licensed crop insurance agent has held both the Series 3 and 30 commodity brokerage licenses.  Tom looks forward to working with you to establish a solid risk management plan involving both marketing and crop insurance strategies.
